NHL admits it was wrong to overturn Victor Olofsson's tying goal for the Sabres

'In a statement, NHL Senior Executive Vice President Colin Campbell said the call on the ice that Olofsson scored with 56.2 seconds remaining in regulation should have stood. The Sabres made one final push after the goal was overturned, but they were unable to break through in a 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers inside KeyBank Center.' … [Read more...] about NHL admits it was wrong to overturn Victor Olofsson’s tying goal for the Sabres

Inside the NHL: Memories of going to a Sabres game for the first time 50 years ago

'I have no idea how my father got a hold of a couple of tickets – remember they were impossible to get back then – and they were corner Reds. I don't remember the section and I don't have the ticket stub (a lifelong source of disappointment), but they were at the far end from where the teams and Zamboni entered the ice.' … [Read more...] about Inside the NHL: Memories of going to a Sabres game for the first time 50 years ago

Goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen making strong case to stick with Sabres

'“But he won’t come out of a development phase, he’s 22,” Granato said. “So I say that with a smile because the ceiling … is really high, it’s not even close to it. But to see performances like tonight and the last couple nights is great. The control, the confidence, he’s in the moment, he’s reading shooters.”' … [Read more...] about Goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen making strong case to stick with Sabres

NHL admits Sabres’ late goal against Rangers should’ve counted

'“It’s hard for me to comment on it,” he said. “You guys asked me about it after the game, and I’m going to tell you my approach to it is you can’t play the ‘poor me’ card. You just can’t. So whatever happens in a game, you have to move on, and we moved on immediately."' … [Read more...] about NHL admits Sabres’ late goal against Rangers should’ve counted

NHL admits it made wrong call in disallowing Sabres’ goal

'In a statement released by the league on Saturday, senior executive VP Colin Campbell said Victor Olofsson’s goal scored with 57 seconds remaining Friday night should have stood because video replays could not “definitively determine” whether the Sabres were offside entering the zone.' … [Read more...] about NHL admits it made wrong call in disallowing Sabres’ goal

The NHL made a mistake, but at least they owned up to it

'The problem is, somebody forgot to tell the league they need conclusive evidence to justify a different call on the play. There was no conclusive evidence, though. The league failed to follow its usual process, the Sabres lost a 2-1 game that should’ve went to overtime, and the video showed there was no offside that disallowed Olofsson’s goal. It was a debacle.' … [Read more...] about The NHL made a mistake, but at least they owned up to it

Opinion: The Sabres waste more great goaltending from Luukkonen

'The Sabres had really played well until the third period. Both teams had played Friday night, but the Sabres were the only team out of gas in the third period. Buffalo's decisions with the puck were all of a sudden complicated and Washington ripped 17 shots at Luukkonen to only six for Buffalo.' … [Read more...] about Opinion: The Sabres waste more great goaltending from Luukkonen

Three Observations: Sabres fall to Capitals 3-2 in shootout

'If you're a glass half full person, I have good news: this year's Sabres don't fold like a chair when they give up their first goal against. If you're a glass half empty person, here's the bad news: Buffalo has shown a propensity for giving up the first tally really, really quickly.' … [Read more...] about Three Observations: Sabres fall to Capitals 3-2 in shootout

NHL releases statement on Sabres-Rangers finish

'“The original call on the ice, ‘good goal,’ should have stood because video replay could not definitively determine that the stick of Buffalo Player Victor Olofsson touched the puck before Rasmus Dahlin tagged up. In instances when video replay cannot definitively determine a play, League policy is to stay with the original call on the ice.”' … [Read more...] about NHL releases statement on Sabres-Rangers finish
