‘”Felt a little bit more comfortable and felt like I started making some plays,” Johansson acknowledged after scoring his first goal in 15 games. “I had the puck more on my stick and kind of where I’m used to having it a little more maybe. Sabres are in no spot to take winning for granted, even against the Red Wings
‘Big deal. They’re supposed to beat Detroit. Everybody is.’
Kyle Okposo expected to return soon after skating with Sabres
‘Winger Kyle Okposo skated with the Sabres on Tuesday morning ahead of their matchup against the Detroit Red Wings in KeyBank Center. Though Okposo is still a “few games away,” according to coach Ralph Krueger, it’s an important step in the 31-year-old’s rehab from an upper-body injury suffered Jan. 30 against Montreal.’
The Wraparound: Sabres 3, Red Wings 2
‘The Sabres (25-24-8) had scored two or fewer goals in six of their previous eight games, and they are 3-4-1 since the All-Star break. Marcus Johansson had one goal and one assist for his first multi-point game since Jan. 4, and Conor Sheary tied the score, 1-1, in the first period.’
Sabres still draw TV crowd in season of low attendance, fan protests

Goalie Carter Hutton difference-maker in Sabres’ win over Red Wings
‘“I had to work on some things and obviously just sticking with it,” Hutton said after making 27 saves Tuesday. “Nothing really changed, like I’ve talked about it a little bit here, I started the year really strong and I had some stuff go on that I worked through.”’
Simple style helping Sabres’ Scott Wilson thrive following recall
‘“Just simple stuff,” Wilson said of why the line works. “I think with Gussy and Larry, it makes it easy on me. You know what they’re doing almost. We talk about a lot of stuff on the bench.”’
Sabres’ Kyle Okposo nearing return from ‘painful’ upper-body injury
‘But the American said returning Thursday or Sunday “are possibilities.” He said he is about a week ahead of schedule. Officially, the Sabres list him as week-to-week.’
Notes: Wings’ Ehn knew Sabres’ Dahlin was special long ago
‘”Actually first practice,” Ehn recalled. “He got a puck up on the blue line and we had a forward come pressure him and he went right-left, put it between his legs and went in and scored. That was the first time. A junior player comes up, he usually just shoots it right away, is a little bit stressed out, but just to see the patience and poise he had with the puck was unbelievable.’
