A few things earlier in the draft allowed the Sabres to steal Dylan Cozens

‘I was shocked that Cozens was still there for Buffalo at seven. Ralph Krueger told me he was too, but Botterill, not so much, “We were excited and we were happy, but I wouldn’t say surprised. It was an excellent draft and it’s also why you didn’t see a lot of trades today because people were excited with what they picked and they knew they were going to be getting a good player.”’
