Mattias Samuelsson inching closer to realizing NHL dream with Sabres

‘However, those one-on-one matchups against Lukas equipped Mattias with a fierce competitive edge that has him on the cusp of an NHL career in Buffalo.’

Victor Olofsson ‘on the radar’ to be a regular with Sabres next season

‘Rather than handing out a lucrative free-agent contract, the Sabres could opt to bet on Olofsson to earn a top-six role this fall. He’s a cost-effective option — the entry-level contract will pay $767,500 in 2019-20 — and has already proven to have chemistry with Jack Eichel.’

Colin Miller has ‘mixed feelings’ following trade from Vegas to Sabres

‘”Mixed feelings,” Miller said in a conference call Saturday. “I think we had something really special going on there in Vegas and they’re going to have a great team moving forward. Turning around, it’s going to be great. It’s going to be a great opportunity. Seeing what Buffalo did last year through a healthy stretch of the season was very encouraging obviously for the city of Buffalo and the team. Just excited to hopefully take on a little bit more of a role than I had in Vegas and try to help the team in any way I can.”‘

Botterill toes the line, but latest trade means Ristolainen will be dealt

‘There was plenty of chatter in Vancouver the Sabres were shopping Ristolainen hard and the reason, in fact, was that he indicated it was time to go after six mostly disappointing seasons.’

Sabres first-round pick Dylan Cozens to see specialist after suffering thumb injury in 3-on-3 tournament

‘”I saw the videos and stuff. I think it looked a lot worse than it really was,” Cozens said. “I’m feeling good. I’m not concerned. I’m confident it feels good but I’ll learn more when I see the specialist.”‘

Colin Miller’s arrival could spell end of Rasmus Ristolainen’s Sabres tenure

‘Ristolainen looks beaten down by all the losing he has endured over his six-year career.’

Sabres prospect Dylan Cozens suffers thumb injury

‘“It’s good,” he said. “I saw the videos and stuff. I think it looked a lot worse than it really was. I’m seeing a specialist Monday. Right when it happened, I wanted to get right back out there.”’

Sabres adding Miller doesn’t mean subtracting Ristolainen

‘“I think there’s always a demand for those,” he said, referring to Miller and Ristolainen both being right-shot defenseman and playing under reasonably priced contracts. “I’m never going to be in a situation where I complain about too much depth.”’

Sabres Owner Pegula Tells AP: It’s Time To Start Winning

‘”At the time you always think you’re doing what you think is right with the information you have. But now as we sit here, all those steps, whether they were mistakes or not, is kind of where we are now,” she added. “You can’t think they’re all bad because we’ve got Jack (Eichel), we’ve got (Jeff) Skinner, we’ve got (Rasmus) Dahlin. … So all that wouldn’t have happened if other things didn’t happen. Sometimes, they were mistakes, but they’re not.”‘

Sabres’ Dylan Cozens suffers apparent hand injury at development camp

‘During a development camp scrimmage Saturday, Cozens was skating for the puck and was hip-checked by defenseman Brandon Hickey. As he went over Hickey’s back, Cozens put his left hand out and landed on it, hitting the ice hard. The 18-year-old took off his glove and skated directly over to the bench, where trainers escorted him to the dressing room. From the looks of things – his hand appears to be bent – the injury does not look good.’
