‘Buffalo traded O’Reilly to the Blues on July 1 in a trade that has come to look exceptionally lopsided in the Blues’ favor. The Blues sent Patrik Berglund, Vladimir Sobotka, Tage Thompson and two draft picks to the Sabres for O’Reilly. Berglund was so unhappy in Buffalo that he walked away from his contract and returned to Sweden. Sobotka and Thompson have combined for 12 goals and 12 assists in 124 total games. Those two draft picks — a first-rounder this season (unless it somehow falls into the top 10) and a second-rounder in 2021 — had better come through big for Buffalo. O’Reilly, meanwhile, has been the star player for the Blues.’
