Return uncertain, but Eichel relieved to be back on ice

‘”He just had a tough practice with some contact,” Housley said. “We’ll see how he reacts after today, evaluate it tomorrow and just take it day to day.”‘

Sabres Notebook: Ullmark to get chances in goal; Eichel on Kane trade; Bailey suspended by AHL

‘Lehner is a restricted free agent after the season and Johnson is an unrestricted free agent. Ullmark, 24, is signed through next year at a cap hit of $750,000 and it appears the Sabres want to give him a chance to get some more NHL games in before the 2017-18 campaign ends on April 7.’

Sabres’ Jack Eichel feels good after first practice, unsure of return

‘“I would like to play as quickly as I can,” Eichel said inside KeyBank Center. “It’s more about how I feel and how my ankle reacts in practice today, how it feels tomorrow, how I feel physically.’

Sabres’ Eichel returns to practice for 1st time in a month

‘Eichel says he’d like to start playing as soon as possible. But he adds it’s premature to pick a specific game. He says the timetable will depend on his conditioning level and how his ankle responds to the lengthy on-ice session Tuesday.’

Sabres’ Eichel returns to practice for first time since ankle injury

‘Despite playing only 55 games this season, Eichel still leads the Sabres in goals (22), assists (31) and points (53).’

‘Seth Griffith was also back on the ice for the Sabres this morning, but he was rotating with Jordan Nolan on a line with Benoit Pouliot and Jacob Josefson.’

Sabres’ Housley won’t say when Eichel will be back

‘Eichel had been out four weeks with a high-ankle sprain and did every single drill, but at times looked careful to me. It looked like he was just making sure he could do everything asked of him. Eichel said, “I knew what to expect from last year’s injury and the other thing is, I know what to expect with it, you know you’re going to tweak it and there are going to be days where it feels great and there are going to be days where it doesn’t feel that great, so you just try to manage it as well as you can.”’

Eichel returns to practice with Sabres after suffering ankle injury last month

‘”It’s good to be back with the team, the toughest thing about being injured is not being on the ice with them every day and not spending that quality time that you enjoy so much,” Eichel said after Tuesday’s skate. “You know, you really enjoy being back out there and practicing and getting the battles in. That’s the stuff you miss when you’re injured.”‘

Eichel practices with Sabres, listed as day to day

‘”I’d like to play as quickly as I can,” Eichel said. “It’s more about how I feel and how my ankle reacts to practice today and how it feels tomorrow, how I feel physically. Mentally you’re back already. Whenever you’re out that long and you miss that much time, you wish you were playing a few weeks ago. But in the essence of things, you want to take care of things and make sure you’re healthy enough to make an impact. So we’re just going to take it day by day here.”‘

Eichel returns to practice with Sabres

‘”I don’t really know,” Eichel said. “I don’t want to put a timetable or pick a specific game. I would like to play as quickly as I can. It’s more about how I feel and how my ankle reacts in practice today, how it feels tomorrow, how I feel physically.’
