'Ristolainen played 23 minutes, 17 seconds in the season opener against Montreal, 26:43 in Sunday's win in Edmonton and 26:04 in Tuesday's overtime loss in Calgary. Coach Dan Bylsma said over the summer he was hoping to cut back on some of Ristolainen's minutes this season. Bylsma laughed when reminded about that Wednesday and admitted it's been no dice in that area so far.' … [Read more...] about Ristolainen’s assists adding spice to Sabres’ offense

From the Locker Room: Sabres-Canucks

'"Really wanted to come out with a win today, but everything reflects consistency. This league, you have to be good from the get-go. You're good in the 1st period, or get some momentum in the 1st period, you never know where the game goes. But I think consistency is what we gotta work on."' … [Read more...] about From the Locker Room: Sabres-Canucks

5 observations: Sabres 2-1 loss to Canucks

'Okposo finished the night with a fourth of the Sabres shots on goal (six shots) Thursday night and generated some quality chances. The Sabres big free agent forward had a stellar second period, basically taking over the game, he just couldn't beat Markstrom. Okposo and his line mates (O'Reilly and Reinhart) really turned things on as a unit after a slow start, but it was too … [Read more...] about 5 observations: Sabres 2-1 loss to Canucks

Sabres unable to capitalize in loss to Vancouver

'"Fourteen shots in the second period, I think that's how we need to play, how we wanted to play," Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said. We needed to keep pushing and keep playing that way and didn't come up with it."' … [Read more...] about Sabres unable to capitalize in loss to Vancouver

Sabres look for bounceback in finale of Western trip

'"It has to be for sure," said winger Sam Reinhart, a Vancouver native making his second return home in the NHL. "Coming right from day one of training camp, two weeks before the season started, our whole roster minus a couple guys at the World Cup was ready and excited to get going. Banged-up Miller won't face Sabres as Canucks go for 4-0

'"As a goaltender, you feel this way probably 10 times a season," said Miller, now 36. "It's 'Oh, I'm a little tight today but tomorrow I'll have my hips and back lined up, do the right recovery and I'll feel fine.' Once you're able to get that rest, you're fine the next day. It just held on a little longer. It not an injury, it’s more a muscle that didn’t want to settle down. … [Read more...] about Banged-up Miller won’t face Sabres as Canucks go for 4-0
