Enroth saves the day in Sabres triumph

‘”We wanted to win this game bad,” said coach Lindy Ruff. “You get an opportunity to play a team without a couple of their star players, you’ve got to start taking advantage of it.”‘

Weber sits and learns to be patient

‘”I don’t really have too much of a choice,” said Weber, 23. “I’m just trying to stay ready. It’s another chance to watch some games and see what we’re doing right and wrong. Then I’ll be doing more of the right stuff.”‘

Rivet’s love for the game is priceless

‘”I was going to hang it up,” Rivet said. “I didn’t go to the gym once all summer. Once I got into September and watched Pegulaville [take hold], I started getting the itch. It wasn’t really about the game but to go to the rink, practice and be somewhat competitive. I wanted to be close to my family, we went from there and I ended up here.”‘

Pens’ Crosby nearing return

‘“There are a lot of things – having to make quicker plays, react (to) more than just one guy,” Crosby said about practicing again. “Normally you’re out there battling with one guy. You have to worry about four other guys on the ice now, too. It’s a little different. It just takes time to get used to that.”’

Gerbe, Sabres beat Penguins 3-2

‘“Jhonas kept us in the game all game long,” Adam added. “He gave us a great effort back there, and when your goalie is playing well in front of you, it gives the guys a lot of confidence.”’

Buffalo 3, Pittsburgh 2

‘Jhonas Enroth made 30 saves for Buffalo, which rebounded from Friday’s home loss against Carolina. Enroth stopped 13 shots in the third period and held steady in a pressure-packed final few minutes.’

Sabres hold on for 3-2 win over Pittsburgh

‘The Sabres were able to hold off a late charge by the Pens for the victory. Roy was called for delay of game for shooting the puck out of play in the defensive zone with under a minute to go in regulation. ‘

The aftermath: Sabres 3, Penguins 2

‘Buffalo keeper Jhonas Enroth showed just how valuable a backup goaltender can be. Enroth may not have notched a shutout, but he did pick up his first win of the season and turned away 29-of-31 Pittsburgh shots to lead the Sabres to their third win of the regular season. Enroth hit his stride in the second period, making numerous saves on odd-man rushes and giving the Sabres an opportunity to win the game.’
