Buffalo Sabres appear closer to deal with Rochester Amerks

'Amerks owner Curt Styres deflected all questions about the potential sale, saying only that the Amerks "will be playing next season." Sabres set to purchase AHL team

'Brian Petrovek, the Pirates' CEO/managing owner, declined to comment about the possible purchase by Buffalo, his team's NHL affiliate for the past three seasons, and what it would mean to the future of the Pirates.
