‘On the Sabres front, Golisano called his team to be in “pretty good shape,” and referred to coach Lindy Ruff as “an institution.” Golisano declined to say whether there have been talks to extend Ruff’s contract beyond this season.’

“He’s had a very good training camp,” Ruff said after the Sabres practiced Friday. “He’s a big body. On the offensive side of it, he’s done a nice job in practices and games. I’m curious to see how he’ll play in a preseason game.”
"If the Sabres top trio can rediscover their scoring touch, then Buffalo could very well challenge for the Eastern Conference title."
‘“Sometimes the battles for the top free agents turn out for teams and sometimes they don’t,” Ruff said. “We hope we make enough right decisions [on draft picks] and develop them into real good NHL players.”’
‘Ruff also announced that Ryan Miller will share time in net with Jhonas Enroth in the team’s first preseason game. For now, he will have his goaltenders share playing time during the exhibition action. In the past the bench boss has given his goalies full games to round back into regular season form.’
‘“I think I need to be more assertive with my reads. I need to be more confident in the plays I’m making and stop second guessing. If you’re going to pinch, pinch 100 percent – if you’re not, then back out,” he said. “I just need to stop being afraid of making mistakes. I think when I came back I was playing too tentative and worried about making errors when I had the puck instead of looking at it as an opportunity to make a play. I had to change my mindset and start to have fun again.”’
