Miller keying Sabres playoff run

'"He's been awesome all year," defenseman Toni Lydman said. "If you can trust your goalie, that's a huge, huge factor in the game and in your confidence especially. He's been solid." "It starts with him," co-captain Daniel Briere added.' … [Read more...] about Miller keying Sabres playoff run

Vanek & LaRose to Meet in Eastern Conference Finals

'The Hurricanes have the home ice, but that does little in the NHL. Look for Vanek to break out of his slump to help the Sabres, but it may not be enough. Remember how I said home ice didn't mean anything in the NHL? Well it really doesn't but the 'Canes will win this one at home in seven games.' … [Read more...] about Vanek & LaRose to Meet in Eastern Conference Finals

NASCAR Dads and Rick Jeanneret

'Rick Jeanneret. If you hate OLN, go on NHL.com and pick up the Sabres radio feed, and kick back for a wonderful treat. Jeanneret, the Sabres play-by-play man on TV and radio, is exciting, and describes the play so well on radio. Some of his calls are classic, and forgive his homerism, but he's just flat out fun to hear.' … [Read more...] about NASCAR Dads and Rick Jeanneret

Local stations miss the net with Sabres coverage

'"We" the viewing public realizes that all the local TV news teams support and are "excited" about the hometown team. But please don't embarrass us by cheerleading. After all, visitors are coming to town. "Newscasters Gone Wild" reflects poorly on journalism in this town, making the area look minor league.' … [Read more...] about Local stations miss the net with Sabres coverage

Lucky charms

'"It's completely illogical, neurotic, obsessive compulsive. But you have to do it," said Pax, a software engineer. Talk of sweeping the Senators after Buffalo went up 3-0 in the best-of-seven series? "I wouldn't say it. I wouldn't even type it," Pax said of the broom-related verb. "You do not want to anger the hockey gods."' … [Read more...] about Lucky charms

One fan's vision of the Stanley Cup in Buffalo

'The die-hard Sabres fan grabbed a pencil and began sketching renovations that would transform the 75-year-old building into a Stanley Cup, albeit larger in scale. Battaglia's temporary design involves wrapping City Hall, located in downtown Buffalo, in a cheap wire cloth that would, that would add about 30 vertical feet to the 32-storey structure.' … [Read more...] about One fan’s vision of the Stanley Cup in Buffalo
