'Go back to the mid-1970s and take a view of the Buffalo sports scene. The Sabres were Numero Uno back in that day. The French Connection, Luce-Gare-Ramsay, Schoenfeld and Korab. 100 point seasons and a legit Stanley Cup contender. The Sabres reigned supreme back in those days. Now, it seems the tide is shifting favorably for the Sabres once again. With the Bills firmly entrenched in mediocrity, the Sabres “should” be at the forefront on the Buffalo sports scene. However, they are not.'

'The Sabres have grossed $1.1 million more this season than at this point in the 2003-4 season. Quinn also said paid attendance is "way up" but could not remember the exact numbers so declined to give a number for fear of giving a wrong figure. Quinn also said the franchise gave away a lot of tickets when they were owned by the Rigas family and Adelphia communications. This hurt the franchise's business as the number of free tickets devalued them to the general public. Quinn said the team is very happy with ticket sales, revenues and the response to the team from people in Buffalo.'
'"I really believe – and if I can get him to believe it – that a breakout year for him might be three times as many assists as it is goals," Ruff said. "He creates enough openings just by using his speed and his stickhandling that if he finds other people, his breakout year isn't going to come in the goals column."'
'Dumont said he felt great Tuesday, but the pain level has been erratic for weeks. "That's why it's frustrating," Dumont said. "If you asked me two days ago, there's no way I'm playing. Today, I still feel it, but maybe."'
'C Chris Drury has four goals and six assists in his last 10 games.'
'Since Thanksgiving just passed, if you were asked to make one dish to bring to dinner.. what would you make?
Peters: "Kraft dinner. That's all I can cook."'
‘Briere said he and linemate Dumont are making slow recoveries from groin injuries, but the Sabres’ success has made things easier. “You can’t rush this kind of injury and there’s no pressure on us to hurry back.”‘
‘Well, I got called up but when I was sent down initially I was a little disappointed about that. However, I wanted to work my way back to the NHL and I thought I had a lot of help with the coaching staff and the players down there. When I got called back up, I just wanted to make the best of my opportunity and showcase my talents that I showed during training camp. I am playing now on a line with Chris Drury and Mike Grier and it is amazing. I like playing with those guys and hopefully we can continue to play well.’
