Meet the Sabres: Tim Connolly

'"Two years ago you sat out the entire season with a concussion. Name one thing you became very good at in that year."

Connolly: "Probably eating ice cream and sitting around doing nothing. Basically I got completely out of shape and that's when I started playing poker. Basically I couldn't work out or do anything. I just kind of enjoyed being out of shape."'

Meet the Sabres: Brian Campbell

'"You were roommates with Rhett Warrener for awhile. What was the craziest thing about Rhett, or do you have any good stories about Rhett that you can tell us?"

Campbell: "There's never a story that you can tell about that guy on camera."'

Biron’s chance approaching

‘The Sabres recently approached Biron and spare goalie Mika Noronen about reporting to the Rochester Americans for a two-week conditioning assignment. A player can agree to such an arrangement without needing to clear waivers, as Edmonton Oilers goalie Ty Conklin did this week. Both Biron and Noronen declined the Sabres’ overture.’

McKee proves to be big shot on blocks

‘The Buffalo Sabres defenseman, therefore, must be smarting because he led the NHL with 30 blocked shots heading into Thursday night’s games. “Guys can shoot the puck pretty hard at this level,” McKee said. “I’ve got a bruise right now the size of a large orange on my knee from a Jaromir Jagr shot. But you don’t think about it when you’re out there. You just focus on what you have to do. It’s after the game that you realize the pain it causes you, but it’s never enough to keep you out of the lineup.”‘

Sabres vs. Devils

‘After not allowing as many in all of 2003-04, the Devils have given up six goals twice this season.’
