'Despite a few questions on defense and the still unresolved goalie controversy, the Sabres looked ready to play. It appears as if coach Lindy Ruff is allowing the team to use the long breakout pass and speed game; something which will work to their advantage. 'Rick Jeanneret, the longest-tenured broadcaster in hockey, is back for his 34th year as play-by-play broadcaster. He is again joined by analyst Jim Lorentz, who has been part of the Sabres' broadcast crew since the 1992-93 season.'
