‘One down, one dozen to go.’
'Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms on a one-year dela with free agent defenseman Teppo Numminen.
'In 2003-04, Buffalo's power-play unit ranked 18th in the NHL, scoring on 15.8 percent. Dmitri Kalinin, Zhitnik, Rory Fitzpatrick and Andy Delmore led the Sabres' defensemen with two power-play goals apiece.'
'In 1,160 career contests the 37-year-old Numminen has totaled 111 goals and 440 assists for 551 points.'
‘Buffalo has not had a blue-liner produce 40 points in a season since Jason Woolley had 43 in 1998-99.’
'The Orpik brothers have been working out and playing on a team in the Boston area along with former Penguins defenseman Ian Moran and several other college and pro players during the summer, and Rick Orpik believes being around them has helped his younger son. "Also, one of the Sabres' scouts happens to coach that team," he said.'
‘Last year with Dallas, Numminen had 3 goals and 14 assists, while registering a -5.’
