Marker Locker room revised [9:27 PM]
Sabres.com reports: 'Following Buffalo’s dismal 4-2 loss to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night, Ruff revamped the dressing room moving the majority of players’ stalls. “We put some different voices next to different guys,” Ruff said.'

Marker Another atrocious loss for Sabres [8:17 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'When fourth-line journeyman Matt Ellis, not Jochen Hecht, Derek Roy or any of the Sabres’ other high-profile players, became the team’s best forward early in an atrocious 4-2 loss Tuesday to the scorching Washington Capitals, the game was over.'

Marker Sabres lifeless in loss [6:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'There was a commercial timeout with about two minutes left in the second period, and the 18,690 fans in HSBC Arena were restless. They were giving mock cheers to Ryan Miller for making routine saves, and they were booing the Sabres for being in a 3-0 hole.'

Marker Top centers told to improve or sit [6:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '“We’ll take them out of the lineup. Some of them will come out. That’s not an idle threat, either. If you don’t want to compete, if Matt Ellis wants to compete harder and Adam Mair wants to compete harder, then we’ll play the guys that want to compete harder. Then they can make a decision if they want to compete hard. That’s the only fair thing to do.”'

Marker Lackadaisical play continues to dog Buffalo Sabres [6:10 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"I thought our defense played well, but the effort by our forwards — you can take a couple guys out of there like (Adam) Mair, (Paul) Gaustad, (Matt) Ellis — but if Jochen Hecht isn't our best player and Derek Roy isn't our best player, we don't have a chance of winning. It's disappointing, frustrating, upsetting, and we're not going to hide from it."'

Marker Sabres out of tricks, and it's early [6:09 AM]
Niagara Gazette reports: 'Buffalo got outworked, and simply looked outclassed. And it wasn’t just Alexander Ovechkin who looked head and shoulders above the Sabres.'

Marker Washington 4, Buffalo 2 [6:06 AM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Adam Mair and Clarke MacArthur each scored a goal while Ryan Miller gave up three goals on 30 shots for the Sabres, who have dropped four of their last five.'

WGR-AM reports: 'Adam Mair finally got Buffalo on the board 7:41 into the third when Adam Mair beat Theodore for his fifth goal of the season. Both teams traded goals inside the game's final minute. Washington struck first thanks to a Boyd Gordon empty-netter, and Clarke Macarthur followed that up by scoring with only 11 seconds remaining to make it a 4-2 final.'

Marker Ruff holds forwards accountable [6:04 AM]
Sabres.com reports: '“That’s not an idle threat either,” Ruff said in his post-game press conference. “We will take them out of the lineup. Some of them will come out."'

Olean Times Herald reports: '“I think once you get out there and get on a roll your confidence just builds,” said Pominville, who had 34 goals and 68 points in 2006-07. “You think you’re capable of doing so many things out there. You try to build off that.”'

Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to go channel the spirit of David Letterman.'

Marker Sabres still need improving, but are getting better [1:08 PM]
LetsGoSabres.com reports: 'If you had to pick a day when the Buffalo Sabres started turning this season around, it would be November 26. That is when they beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 at HSBC Arena. Boston leads the Northeast Division by 14 points at this point in the season, so that victory is definitely worth noting. But there are a few reasons why that victory is worth noting.'

Marker Kaleta to miss at least three weeks [1:08 PM]
Sabres.com reports: 'Kaleta will wear a hard collar to stabilize his neck after being struck by Los Angeles Kings’ defenseman Denis Gauthier. “He can still work out and probably skate but his neck has to be immobilized,” Ruff said.'

Marker Sabres work to halt third-period woes [8:27 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Sabres enter tonight’s rematch with the Capitals on a third-period swoon. They held late leads over Montreal, Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders, but all three rallied to force overtime. The Canadiens and Penguins won to deprive the Sabres of an extra point; winning in a shootout salvaged a dismal ending against the Isles.'

Marker Gaustad nears return [4:15 PM]
Sabres.com reports: '"I'm getting close," Gaustad said. It's something where everybody has to discuss it and see what they say this [injury] is and go from there. I want to get back on the ice as quickly and safely as possible."'

Marker The future arrives ahead of schedule [7:07 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'As the Buffalo Sabres’ top prospects, the three players were destined to make it to the NHL. Their talent is obvious, their resumes strong. But as first-year pros, it didn’t seem likely the trio would make it to the big time before the new year.'

Marker Kennedy is home for the holidays [4:49 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Islanders nearly spoiled everything by taking advantage of the Sabres' dismal showings in third periods. They entered the final 20 minutes with a lead for the third time in four games, and for the third time they couldn't hold it. The Islanders scored twice in the final 1:34, including the tying goal by Chris Campoli with 2.0 seconds left.'

Marker Sekera getting his chance to develop [4:48 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"He's getting better and better," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "I think we've seen glimpses of him offensively handling the puck and doing things with the puck, and I think that area can still be better. But defensively, I've liked his game, not that he hasn't struggled at times. But offensively we still think there's more."'
