Stafford added to growing Sabres injury list

‘In the morning, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said an unnamed forward had been injured Friday. The ninth was struggling winger Drew Stafford, who has a lower body injury and is day-to-day.’

Adam scores twice in Sabres’ 5-1 win over Capitals

‘“It was great to get through this one without any injuries,” Pominville said half-kiddingly. “It’s fun to see guys come up, be prepared, and be ready to play.”’

Sabres recall two to offset more injury losses

‘The call-ups were necessary after two more regulars went down in Friday’s loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Defenseman Robyn Regehr sustained an upper-body injury, and right wing Drew Stafford has an undisclosed injury.’

Buffalo 5, Washington 1

‘”I thought everyone participated on the offense tonight,” said Buffalo head coach Lindy Ruff. “All five guys on the ice participated and it was a good game, overall.” ‘

Young Guns Help Sabres Rip Caps 5-1

‘Missing nine regulars, including Robyn Regehr and Drew Stafford who both suffered injuries on Friday in Columbus, the Sabres received an all-star effort from a handful of their youngsters.’

McNabb recalled for tonight

‘The Sabres will be without two more regulars tonight against the Washington Capitals, as defenseman Brayden McNabb has been called up from the AHL to take the place of Robyn Regehr and sources tell WGR’s Jeremy White that Paul Szczechura has been recalled to take the place of an unnamed forward who went down last night due to injury.’

Rookie move

‘“Obviously, anytime another team scores a goal you want to respond with either a good shift or maybe a goal or a hit or something like that,” said Kassian. “It worked out well. We just tried to throw it on net for a rebound off the pad with the middle lane driving. Lucky for me it snuck through the five-hole and it went in. It was a nice burden to get off my back and now I can focus on playing.”‘

McNabb & Szczechura recalled

‘Prior to joining the Amerks, Szczechura spent last season with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL). In 79 games with the Admirals, the Brantford, Ont. native collected 52 points (22+30). Szczechura appeared in 83 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning during parts of the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, recording 16 points (9+7).’

Sabres pull a no-show in Columbus

‘The Sabres handed out free goals as if they were stocking stuffers against Columbus, allowing the Blue Jackets to storm to an easy 5-1 victory in Nationwide Arena. The Jackets barely had a chance to reload their Civil War goal cannon at times, with the Sabres unable to do much of anything against a Columbus team that may have finally found its game.’

Kassian won’t curb his enthusiasm

‘”You dream about this since you were a little kid. To finally have it come true, I’m very excited,” Kassian said. “When I got sent down I just wanted to work my butt off down there and try to play as best as I can and hopefully get the call. The call came. Now it’s time for me to show what I’ve got.”‘

Columbus chases Enroth in 5-1 win over Sabres

‘Enroth has been a surprising success with the Sabres this season—and will have to play a larger role now with star Ryan Miller sidelined with a concussion — coming into play with an 7-2-1 record. But he was yanked after allowing four goals on 18 shots in just 24:29 of action Friday.’
