‘”I told the players that I would talk to them on Monday and we’d see where we were after the noon deadline,” General Manager Darcy Regier said before the Sabres hosted Toronto in First Niagara Center. “Both were very professional and understanding in that they realized what this means. The only thing that I can try to do to help them is say to them, ‘We’ll work and try to help you in any way to try to get back in the National Hockey League, whether it’s with us, which would obviously involve biding their time, or another team.'”‘

Enroth ready for role as No. 2

‘“I don’t know really how it’s going to be,” Enroth acknowledged Saturday morning prior to the Sabres’ 3-2 exhibition win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at the First Niagara Center. “I got a little taste of it last year, but it was just two, three weeks or so. I don’t know how it’s going to be over a longer period like that.”’

Regier Talks About Waiving Kotalik and Morrisonn

‘”The difficulty with… being over the cap is that had either of these players played a game and been injured, and when I’m talking about injured, not available for the opening day roster, in order for us to get under the cap, we would’ve had to either waive or trade other players on our roster,” said Regier.’

‘Stafford scored Buffalo’s first goal tonight, and the line combined to take eight shots – something Lindy Ruff said they weren’t doing enough of in their first two games. “I thought they played very well tonight,” said Lindy Ruff. “They were in a lot of opportunities, and played well in their own end.”’

Tyler Myers learns from sophomore slump

‘”I had a terrible first half, and I will be the first to admit that,” Myers said. “But as bad as my first half was, I’m really happy with the way I responded in the second half. It was a huge learning experience. Even in the mindset I have coming into this season is night and day different than it was last season.”‘

Ehrhoff has no trouble figuring things out

‘”It’s what I expected,” Ehrhoff said Friday before the Sabres’ 2-1 victory in Toronto. “We play a fast-paced, offensive game, and the first game I got a few opportunities to join the play. That’s what I like to do.”‘
