'"It's been a difficult time, a personal crisis," Tallinder recently told The Buffalo News from his temporary residence in Bern. "I'm going through a tough time by myself, and to respect my family I'm not going to talk that much about it. It will be a long time before everything gets back to normal again."'

‘“Any kind of change would help,” goalie Ryan Miller said. “If they feel like people aren’t able to watch or follow on TV, we should make it more television-friendly.” Yeah. That’s a good idea. The first step, of course, would be having it on television, but now we’re just talking crazy.’
'"Buffalo hasn't had hockey the whole year," said Miller, who has played 18 games with the Sabres since leaving Michigan State after the 2001-02 season. "They have a lot of die-hard fans."'
'The Sabres offered to try it and, after some experimentation, settled on painting the sheet in what they call “electric powder blue.'' To offset the new colored surface, arena officials decided to make the blue lines fluorescent orange, which is also the color used for the faceoff circles. The center line, normally red, is now dark blue.'
“Rick would line up about 10 pucks in a row on the hash marks and pick a spot on the net to shoot at. We would just keep zoning in on one area to get my hand-eye coordination focusing on a specific area of the goal. This is great to use during the game to visualize releasing the puck, if I see an opening on the goaltender. Rick is such an unbelievable shooter and he scored 50 goals countless times in the NHL. I was just trying to soak up as much information as I can from him.”'
'The Buffalo Sabres have three prospects still playing in the NCAA playoffs which are building up to the frozen four national championship. Here is a brief recap of where the Sabres' prospects stand.'
‘”I find after watching a hockey game for hours that my eyes hurt,” Larry Quinn, the Sabres’ managing partner told The Buffalo News. “I think the glare from the (painted) white ice causes eye fatigue. I think there’s a feeling we want to modernize the game. I think there’s definitely some fresh air in the league. I think people are open to innovation. I think there’s a sense of a new era.”‘

'Hockey, like baseball or basketball, takes less time to put together a respectable team, especially if all your opponents are in the same situation. Besides, considering the brand of hockey that has cursed the NHL for the last decade, who would notice the difference in replacements from the real thing?'
'This is no April Fool's joke. But don't worry, the puck won't be yellow. Labatt's, will, however, be an on-ice sponsor. Marketing at its creative best.'
'Quinn was part of the organization when the Sabres changed from what I thought were very classy jerseys to the current Picasso/gangsta scheme (let's not talk about the awful red butterknife third jersey).'
