'Like their 2-2 tie at Chicago on Thursday, the Wild found themselves in a wide-open affair where scoring chances materialized as fast and treacherous as black ice.'

The Sabres Report - December 29, 2002
'“Every game's the same,'' Sabres forward Stu Barnes said. “It's a one-goal game, but we're on the wrong end of it.'''
'"If you're struggling, you work harder, you try harder," said Barnes, Buffalo's captain. "If you've missed the net, hit the net. It's pretty basic, it's not rocket science. But the flip side of that is not to come and mope every day and believe all is lost and we might as well give up now because this is over with. We're not going to do that because that is not an option."'
The Sabres Report - December 28, 2002
The cataclysm of the Sabres continues. This past week, the Sabres rapid decent from the respectability resumed as they lost all three against Montreal, Pittsburgh and Ottawa. Those three losses, combined with the embarrassing loss a week ago against the Florida Panthers, put the Sabres losing streak at four. To make matters worse, there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel.
'While the Sabres are playing like an expansion team, the Wild is gunning for glory in only its third year of existence.'
'Hamel admitted Thursday not getting another NHL shot "was always on my mind, but I'm really happy I got another chance. It might be my last one, so I have to take it."'
'The Wild is 13-0-1 when leading after two periods.'
'Buffalo is 2-0-0 lifetime against the Wild, but the Sabres are a mess right now.'
'"Obviously, this franchise needs a sense of direction, and it starts with ownership,'' he added. "There's a lot of history in this city. It's had outstanding fan support. It's just a really tough time."'
'The Sabres have lost four in a row and are in danger of falling into the NHL basement.'
